Get some exercise, visit the zoo and raise awareness about the endangered cheetah by participating in the seventh annual Run for the Cheetah on Saturday, April 30.

The event, created to raise funds to support the Cheetah Conservation Fund, is a fun event for competitive runners, walkers and families alike. It includes a 5K run, 1-mile run/walk and Kids Cheetah Dash.

Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. at Papago Park, in Phoenix Ramadas 9 & 10, by the Phoenix Zoo, 465 North Galvin Parkway.

The 5K run/walk begins at 7:30 a.m., the 1-mile run at 7:40 and the 100-yard Cheetah dash at 8:30. An awards ceremony and post-race party (raffle, music, food, animal themed displays) will be held at 9 a.m.

Preregister before April 25 to save $5 on the 5K registration fee, which is $25 the day of the race. 1-mile registration fee is $15 through April 25 and then $20 up to and including the day of the race. The kids dash is free.

5K and 1-mile participants will receive commemorative “Run for the Cheetah” T-shirts and free admission to the Phoenix Zoo on race day.
